buying lightbulbs, insulation, finding breakers- such frustration
making meals, sleepy children, stone work in the cold
tile sawing, sleeky railing, all our budget efforts failing
Upstairs, downstairs, Grandpa's getting old
Grandma made some snuggly booties, need more bonding time with cuties
caulking/painting, vanities, Mommy's losing sanity
climbing baby, daily reading, Grandpa's thumb is always bleeding
carpet schedule, tile grout, patience is the key
CHORUS:
Set our apartment on fire
It's time to move on
Tell the ward we're gone
Set our apartment on fire
I cannot hide it,
I am getting excited
smoke detectors- no luck, flourescent lightbulbs really suck
loosing screws, broken fan, tired volunteers
cabinet handles, hardi backer, you should see Mack eat a cracker
daily progress, perserverance, blood sweat and tears
saw dust, snow boots, pre-school snack, stinky toots
library books, Jubilee, man on doorstep selling fruit
plugs and switches, lights turn on, KSL: dishwasher's gone
Questar, electric bills, heating 2 homes really kills
CHORUS
Basin Builders, Home Depot, Ikea and Contempo
shopping lists, return this, 85 Lowes trips
fascia and soffit, gun-selling profit
towel bars, stair treads, someone get the kids in bed
interest rates, inauguration, economy speculation
Carpet comes on Thursday, what else do I have to say?
CHORUS
Rocket and Sally Ann, "the skunk ate my girlfriend"
Buffalo, shovel snow, toilet overflows
wood putty, slide-in range, call the doctor, diaper change
Rally X and Pac Man, Mack falls on his can
Taylor moves, grabber screws, look at Dad on the news
Mini Wheats, Lagoon Street, Baby Mya-- so sweet
Veggie Tales, grocery store, Grandpa sleeping on the floor
baby gives the bleach a pour, I can't take it anymore
Set our apartment on fire
It's time to move on
Tell the ward we're gone
Set our apartment on fire
Nobody will miss it
and the landlord can kiss it...

Perfect Valentines Gift
I think it's lame to ASK for something for Valentine's Day, but this is too good so I had to drop some hints to the hubby.

Since baby Mya was in the NICU for a week, we were only able to see her far away and through glass for 30 seconds. So no pictures! Rip Off! It was upsetting to not see her for real and hold her. Abbey and Matt have been through so much. I can't imagine the anguish of having a baby and not being able to have her right next to me and then leaving the hospital without her. That is too much for a person to take.
What a looooooong journey it has been to get that sweet baby here and home. So many prayers, so many tears. But already so much joy.

let's hear it for the boys
DAX is the MAN. He just got home from a week long work trip where he was in charge of transplanting bison from the Henry Mountains to the Book Cliffs; a project that he's planned for months. If you thought you saw him on the news last night, you were not mistaken. Very glad to have him back.

Craiger is the MAN. All the tile is laid in the b-rooms. If I had a million dollars, I'd for sure give him a few hundred thousand. Then I'd hire Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I'm sure they could knock the rest of the house out in like, ten minutes. Except I think you have to have a child with no bones for them to come build your house. Oh, well. I don't need Ty Pennington yelling in a bull horn right now.
Hunter is the man. He lost his first tooth this week and he's been landing himself in our funny journal every day. The other night he and Preslie and I were in the kitchen and he whispers, "Hey, I've got a top secret for you guys." He then gathers us into a huddle and we're like, "What?" Then he says, "I think Dad is under a lot of stress right now. So if you guys think of something that will cheer him up, we can do that."
Mack is the man. We installed cabinet handles today. He picked up the screwdriver and imitated
me without skipping a beat.

The house photos keep coming.
This is what we post about, because this is what is heavily on our minds, takes up much of our time, and the majority of our money. Believe it or not, a house takes a lot of work to build. And THIS guy will be the first to tell you that.

Seriously SUCH a hard worker. And after a full day of hard labor, he comes home (to our apartment) and is the sweetest, most involved Grandpa I've ever seen. Then he showers in our ONE bathroom that he graciously shares with the 5 of us and gets ready for a great nights' sleep on the FLOOR on 2 camping foams. He always tells my kids that he is 100 years old. I think by the time the house is done, he really will feel like he's a hundred.
Dusk provides interesting lighting inside. It makes the colors seem really bright. The tile is taupe even though in the pic the walls are making it look greenish. I really like the tile; it reminds me of concrete floors.
WHAT a day. BUT, only the second mini-meltdown for me since we started this project. The first one was at the beginning of the construction process, and this one is near the end. So all in all, not bad. I took the kids up to the house and they played in the dirty, dusty, loud, and dangerous mess while I put up lighting trims and screwed in bulbs.
Preslie is excited to have her own yellow room. We'll see if she doesn't try to sneak back in with
Hunter like she did when we moved here. They've always been roomies, and as social as Preslie is, I wonder if she'll enjoy being by herself.
See what I mean about lighting affecting color? This pic was taken in the same room but a different time of day.

high school friends

Got together with some pals from back in the day. Kind of weird to mix my Mommy life with by-gone high school days, but so much fun. And fun to see our kids play together. We missed you, Katie, Mark, Mike, Joe, Snedaker, etc. etc.
P.S. If there are any WJHS class of '99 kids out there, go to wjhs1999.myevent.com to meet up with old chums and prepare for our 10 year reunion.
scroll down for new posts.
i blog in whatever order i want, but i put my posts in chronological order (when they happened). so not every new post shows up at the top. just FYI.
