Finally Some SNOW!

We were thrilled to wake up Monday morning to a lovely layer of white outside! We have been waiting all winter for some decent snow to play in and finally got some.
Dax's brother Matt called that morning and was as giddy as a little boy on Christmas about the snow. He and his wife, Abbey came over and made Derek the digital snowman.

And now, today, 2 days later, this is what our snowman looked like only minutes before it finally succumbed to gravity.

V-day

I hope all my friends and family had a great Valentine's day. It is great to feel loved! Here at our house, we sure had a fun day giving each other valentines and hanging out all together. Dax was thoughtful and sweet to me, as usual. Preslie finally gave out her v-tines that she made 3 weeks ago. Hunter ate a touch too much sugar and I think this picture was the last smile he had that day, unfortunately. But it was a super fun day!

A day in the life of a Wildlife Biologist

Dax took the kids and me to work with him last week. We had some boxes of live turkeys from Southern Utah that were to be transplanted to Northern Utah by Bear Lake. So the bottom photo is of Dax and his co-worker opening the boxes and you can see one turkey flying out. It was pretty cool. Then we went over and walked around on the frozen Bear Lake (top photo). We had fun. This job is probably more exciting than a lot of jobs out there!

Just call him Maria

Who would ever think to make their own tamales? Old Mexican ladies, and Dax. I wish I would have taken a photo of when we had them fixed up with cheese and salsa to eat them. YUM. And, those are corn husks that they are wrapped in, in case you're wondering.

Lovey Dovey

I love February. It is the month of my birthday and also Valentine's Day. I love thinking about people I love! And here is the guy that tops the list. I know it is maybe cheesy or too sentimental, but it's true! We have very few photos of us together so I especially like this one that was taken the other day. We are just relaxing and having a good time together. It is so nice to do that sometimes.

Shaping up

I wish I would have been posting more stuff but this week has been busy. Our toilet had to be fixed two different days this week. The day it got fixed our hot water heater broke and we were without hot water for 2 days. The Plumber has been to our house almost everyday this week. I am starting to miss seeing him around. : )
I took our car to the body shop to get repaired from the accident I was in last month and we got it back Friday. (It looks so good by the way, I am glad I didn't give into the temptation of keeping the $1,000 bucks from the insurance company!) So things are shaping up and we are all doing great!

Spring Fever

The other day I was talking to my sis on the phone and Preslie comes in the front room dressed like this and starts singing spring songs and dancing all around. The paper taped to the TV is a sunshine she drew. It was so darling and I just wanted to squeeze her because this winter has been so cold for us in Logan and there hasn't been any good snow to play in. Anyway, I think her dancing and singing worked because the next day it warmed up and the snow is gone and it has been raining for the last 2 days. I am not getting my hopes up too high, though, anyone who has lived in Cache Valley for a while knows that fake-outs happen all the time, but it sure has been nice!

Church Ball

We enjoyed watching Dax play in a great game of church basketball today. That is him in the middle shooting the ball. They played a tough game and were ahead until the last quarter when our ward's guys started running out of gas because they didn't have very many guys show up. Everyone had a great time, though--the guys really love playing and they are pretty good, too!

Working with the Man

The kids and I went to Hardware Ranch today to work with Dax. It really wasn't work for us, we just sat in the warm truck while he did all the hard stuff. Then, we got to go on a wagon ride to see all the elk.
It is so weird being this close to the elk. They are not even scared! Why would they be if they are getting fed, I guess!

It is great to go see what Dax does once in a while. And great to get out and have an adventure this time of year when we stay inside so much.
