my first 5K

The whole family came to support me and cheer for me!

I was excited but didn't really know what to expect. It was a low-key race put on by the county; there were maybe 40 contestants. I ran the whole time and was the 5th person to finish. My goal was to do it in under 30 minutes and I did 28:42. It was way fun. I will definitely do another one!

This is right at the starting line. I am on the far right.
The strawberry pie I made for my man.

I bought 10 quarts of strawberries the other day and made freezer jam for the first time. It's easy and so yummy. And I made Dax a killer delish strawberry pie. Ugh. I think I need to go run another 3 miles!

cutie pants

I made this dress for Quinn last year but now it's too short so I made matching pants out of scraps and they turned out fun!

Easter and donkeys

We enjoyed watching donkey basketball at the high school!

Yay for Easter and springtime!
Lots of b-day parties for the kids. I have been too lazy to get presents as we don't have Target or Walmart in town so we've improvised...
Preslie made a top-10 list for her friend's 10th b-day party and clipped a 10 dollar bill to it.
Hunter made 8 candles out of dollar bills for his friend's 8th b-day party. I need to just stock up on presents so I have things on hand for the kids but this works...

I took Quinn to see the baby chicks at IFA. I knew she would love them. Mack wanted to hold one so bad so I sneaked and picked one up (against the rules). Preslie was freaking out the whole time so scared we would get caught. "Put it down Mom! Put it down Mom!"
I had to take a pic of Preslie sleeping. It cracks me up because this is exactly how Dax sleeps- diagonal on his stomach, arm under pillow, one leg out straight and the other bent with foot touching the opposite knee. And if memory serves, this is how Dax's Mom sleeps also. Some apples don't fall far from the tree!

The kids tried to get up at 5am on Easter Saturday to look for their baskets. WHY are they so psycho about holidays? Must get it from their Dad...
Besides the candy, the hot item was the salt shaker Dax got in his Easter basket. The kids played with it all morning. . .
Preslie got a home highlight kit in her Easter basket. She loves her new hair!

Here is my darling Quinn...
1. Playing in the sink so I can cook dinner
2 & 3. Pigtails!
4. Beat up baby fell asleep with a sock in her mouth and her arm stuck in the rails of her crib.
She is liking throwing and catching a ball, also putting her own shoes on. I wish she could teach Mack that putting on shoes was cool.
Dax made this awesome knife handle today out of an elk antler and I was super impressed with his skills.
Happy April!
