mad Thursday

Today was Hunter's last day of preschool. Yay! Later that afternoon, he went to a birthday party. I picked him up from there to go to his preschool graduation/program that evening the same time as our Cub Scout fishing trip. So I loaded up the kids and went to the grad while Dax met all the scouts/parents at the church and they loaded up and went fishing.

After the graduation, we zoomed out to the creek to meet our 13 cub scouts, 3 leaders, and 5 adult volunteers. Dax ran around like a crazy person fixing tangled line, snagged hooks, and disfunctional poles. The boys had to get tough and cut a piece of worm and bait their own hook. I ran from boy to boy snapping photos, unhooking their fish, and throwing them back. The boys had such a blast and wanted to keep EVERY fish. I tried to convince them to release them, but a few did end up taking fish home.

So much fun and worth all the dirt and fish stink we washed off after we got home!

sniffer

Hunter has the best sense of smell... I got a kick out of him today.

Hunter: (picking up a dirty rag in the kitchen) "This rag smells like hamburgers."
Me: "Eww. Let's go throw it in the hamper."
Hunter: (following me) "Yeah, that rag smells like hamburgers. And I LOVE the smell of hamburgers."

Later today, I ran a note into Preslie at school. When I came back to the car...

Me: "Oh, my gosh! Preslie's school STUNK like rotten fish!"
Hunt: "What are you talking about...fish don't even stink." (he ALWAYS has to contradict, even in OBVIOUS situations... like the way rotten fish smell)
Me: "Fish do TOO stink, why are you disagreeing about that?"
Hunt: "Well, why did it smell like fish?"
Me: "I don't know, but it was SO stinky! Bleh!"
Hunt: "I wish I could smell it. I'm interested in that kind of smelly stuff. I'm interested."

Bro + Abbey + Mya = fun weekend

People came to visit us! Yay. The small town life doesn't provide much for entertainment so Bro and Abbey supplied the Super Nintendo which wowed the kids and took Dax and me down memory lane. I must say, Super Mario is still no match for my skills.

Our town is big on yard sales and Bro is my favorite yard sale buddy. "Five bucks for a box of our homemade videos." Mya delighted with her adorable smile and Dax fed us well. I love having an extra sister...Abbey is so much fun, a patient Mom, and a great walking partner.

I miss living close to these guys! *snif*
Come back soon.

made for the stage

We attended Preslie's spring dance recital which marks the end of dance for the season, and maybe forever. For the past 2 months, she has begged not to go to dance class, but we made her finish it out. She likes to perform, but doesn't like to practice.

She did a darling job on her 2 dances- Music Box and Pillow Talk. We enjoyed watching the other classes too, particularly the older girls from the competition teams. I love dance. I was never very good, but I love to dance and watch dancing. I'm a little sad Preslie isn't into it, but I'm determined to find something that she loves to do. Everyone should have a passion. And although dance isn't hers, she did such a good job. She loves to be on stage!

here, there, everywhere

I think I stepped into a time warp last week because so much has happened, but it feels like no time has gone by.
Dax's grandmother passed away so on the way to the funeral in Idaho, we stopped off for a Mother's Day dinner with my parents and brothers. Lance and Dax cooked pork chops and asparagus for us all and I had a nice visit with my folks. I have the best Mom ever.

Tyrel almost scared the pee out of her on a motorcycle ride that afternoon. She should know better than to willingly get on a motorcycle (or any other vehicle) with one of her sons. Her little legs were so wobbly when she got off!

Grandma McDermott's funeral was really wonderful. Her 8 living children payed a wonderful tribute to her and made us all want to be better. She is now with her sweetheart and no longer burdened with the ailments of a mortal body.

All the traveling threw Mack for a loop and he had a 5 hour nap the next day.

Some one is starting construction on the lot next to ours and Mack was mesmerized by the track hoe. He LOVES diggers! At night before bed, I always sing him the song "I love Mommy, she loves me" This week he started interrupting me and insists that I sing, "I love motorcycles, they love me, I love diggers, yes-sir-ree..."

Dax and I have been busy planning our fishing trip with the cub scouts...13 permission slips, 4 volunteer adults and their vehicle info, a BSA tour permit, practicing casting with all the boys (in the wind), is getting us excited! We had to go do a few trial runs at the creek and have had a great time.

proud of my man

Last night, Dax and I attended an awards banquet for his work. He was honored (with others) with the "oustanding team" award for his work on transplanting bison from the Henry Mountains to the Book Cliffs in December. He received a framed picture of a bison and a cash award. Dax is a dedicated employee and a huge asset to his agency. He truly has a vision and a passion for what he does. Plus, he is just a babe. Congrats, Sweetie!

blah blah blogging

I don't really have much to blog about. or maybe I just don't care. BUT... I will- for all you die hard fans out there. I have cut WAY down on posting and hardly ever check other blogs or leave comments anymore. Has anyone else noticed a decrease in blogging and commenting in the blogosphere? I've noticed. Is it the economy? The season change? Whatever. Here is my cute baby reading a book.

The rest of us have been reading, too. I started Fablehaven with the kids and Dax and I are reading New Moon-even though I told myself I wouldn't. Twilight was frustrating for me. I just don't think it is healthy (mentally) for a 17-year-old girl to go for a hundred-year-old+ vampire that could kill her if she tries to kiss him. What is the fun in having a man if you can't kiss him whenever you want? But, after rolling our eyes through the first half of the book, Dax and I are starting to really get into New Moon. All I gotta say though, is Jacob Black is HOT and I totally wish Bella would go for him. He's WAY cooler and more fun than lame-o Edward. I almost cried when Bella didn't hook up with him when she had the chance!

Hunter is just getting into Transformers. He has 2 and he bought them both with his own money. Bumblebee is his latest. It was his idea to take the pics.

I went with Hunter on his field trip to the fire station. He didn't want to wear the fireman's helmet so I did.

Really, there is tons more going on... just not a lot of photo documentation. Mostly because it is a lot of THINKING and you can't take a picture of that.
I'm thinking (and thinking, and thinking) about how to design our yard. thinking about how to design the inside of our house. thinking about how to be a better wife, and Mom. thinking about how I can stop myself from yelling swear words. just kidding.

Dax and I had our first den meeting today. pretty good. This month our theme is "leave only footprints". Who better to teach the boys about taking care of the outdoors than my husband!
OH, and I finished Mack's baby book on Shutterfly and it is adorable! HA! Who says 3rd children get neglected? He's only 19 months and he has a completed baby book! I love technology-always and forever... (what movie?)!
